Government should represent the people – not party bosses or special interest groups. Both major parties, at the Federal level, are so beholden to special interests and corporate dollars, that they have literally ceased to represent the average American family. Congress as a whole has a 19% approval rating according to Gallup, Thomas Friedman has warned of the danger of civil war, and George Will recently urged fellow Republicans to vote against their own party. Neighbors and family members from across the spectrum have turned on one another, believing that anyone who voted for or supports “the other side” is evil and in on a conspiracy to destroy America.
An Independent candidacy allows for freedom to represent Coloradans, rather than the morally bankrupt leadership of one party or another. It allows us to work on “human issues”, rather than red or blue ones. Challenges in healthcare, climate change & energy development, education, and infrastructure investment are all solvable in a bipartisan manner if we will simply allow for everyone to be seated at the table.
